Design
Clotho software control the Clio or Thalia LASER guide diaphragm Single-Use-Pump's integrated with the Perfusion-Single-Use-Bioreactor (P-SUB's) for high cell density cultivation.
- The CellRetention P-SUB for ATF method integrate the Thalia diaphragm Single-Use-Pump (SUP)
- The CellMembra P-SUB for TFF method integrate the Clio diaphragm Single-Use-Pump (SUP)
Both P-SUBs integrate further the Hollow-Fibre-Filter (HFF) and the pressure Single-Use-Sensors (SUS) - all in one package ready to use. Clotho controls accurately the pumped volume, number of strokes and the velocity. The Clio family is remarkable as there is no need for external mass-flow or pressure sensor's or even manual calibration is needed.
Driving diaphragm SUP's requires pressure above and vacuum below atmospheric pressure. The SUP drive gas pressure is continuously adjusted via a set of proportional valves inside Clotho. Intelligent microprocessor with advanced PID algorithms get information from Laser and internal pressure sensor's.

Specification
When Clotho is connected to a pressure and vacuum source with sufficient capacity, then the spec is:
- Stroke frequency, per minute: 1 - 60 (depending on pressured air / vacuum capacity)
- Stroke duration, seconds: 1 - 60 (depending on pressured air / vacuum capacity)
- Clio as integrated with CellMembra - CFF broth velocity, m/s: 0,1 – 15
Clio as mounted on CellMembra and the stand-alone Clio O-SUP share the same diaphragm basic dimension. As to this also the same performance like SV ad CO.
SUP name | Clio - Thalia | Clio - Thalia | Clio - Thalia | Clio - Thalia |
SUP size | M80/60 | M80 | M100 | M140 |
Stroke Volume, SV, mL/stroke | 60 | 200 | 500 | |
Cardiac Output, CO range, mL/min | 1-750 | 5-1,500 | 10-4,000 |
Suitable Drive-Gas pumps, also in the Hephaestus cabinet, for supply of pressure and vacuum for Clotho are Alagonia. Check out the Sarpedon reservoir stabilizing pressure/vacuum and reduce pulsation when several Clio or Thalia SUPs operate on the same supply. Sufficient supply is your planned CO x 50% at >2 Bar pressure and CO x 50% at >950 mBar vacuum.
Clotho can of course be driven by in lab installed pneumatic air and vacuum.
