Design

Clotho-2 is a very compact control unit supporting the Clio and Thalia type of diaphragm Single-Use-Pump's. 

Clotho is the software for Clio and Thalia SUPs - integrated with the Perfusion-Single-Use-Bioreactor (P-SUB's) for high cell density cultivation. Such as the CellRetention Perfusion-SUB available from PerfuseCell. The P-SUB integrate the Thalie diaphragm Single-Use-Pump (SUP), the Hollow-Fibre-Filter (HFF), the Single-Use-Sensor's (SUS) - all in one package ready to use. Clotho control accurately the pumped volume and the velocity. The Thalia family is remarkable as there is no need for expensive external mass-flow sensor's. No need for bulky pump heads and sensor's. No nano size silicone particles polluting the liquid.

Driving Clio and Thalia SUP's requires pressure above and vacuum below atmospheric pressure. The SUP drive gas pressure is continuously adjusted by two sets of proportional valves inside Clotho. Intelligent microprocessor with advanced PID algorithms get information from Laser and pressure sensors.

When Clotho is connected to a pressure and vacuum source with sufficient capacity, then the spec is:

  • Stroke frequency, per minute: 1 - 60 (depending on pressured air / vacuum capacity)
  • Stroke duration, seconds: 1 - 60 (depending on pressured air / vacuum capacity)

Suitable drive gas pumps, as well in the Hephaestus cabinet, for supply of pressure and vacuum for Clotho are Alagonia. Check out the Sarpedon reservoir stabilizing pressure/vacuum and reduce pulsation when several Clio or Thalia SUPs operate on the same supply. Sufficient supply is your planned CO x 50% at >2 Bar pressure and CO x 50% at >950 mBar vacuum.

Clotho can of course be driven by in lab installed pneumatic air and vacuum.
